Last week I wrote up a new Android Pro Widgets theme called Modern ICS. The theme brought us the look of the Gmail and Email widget that we have found with stock ICS, to our Facebook, Twitter, calendar, bookmarks, Google Reader, and messaging widgets. Just when I thought I had the best Ice Cream Sandwich theme for my widgets, Dr. Appche makes it “dark”.
Dr. Appche decided not only will he have the white themed widgets of ICS, but he will reverse the colors to make them black. I will admit it, when I put the regular Modern ICS theme on my widgets, I was little worried it was making my layout to bright. I felt I needed to make some of them dark, just to satisfy my widgethead cravings. He answered my calls.

The dark templates mix so awesomely with the ICS blue, as well as the widget logos. Now I still rock some of my widgets with the white template but most of them I have converted to the dark ones. Having a mixture of both have really brought a sharp look to my widget windows, so consider my widgethead pleased. So if you thought the original modern ICS theme was to bright for your eyes, give the dark version a try. I guarantee you that you will be satisfied. Make sure you have purchased the APW License key to rock these themes and enjoy.
Application: APW Theme Modern ICS Dark
Developer: Dr. Appche
Cost: Free

It looks like one company has taken to the themeing lime light lately. Tapatalk by Quoord Systems Limited has put @B_boytm and @DroidDOESSS to work making some themed out versions of its widely popular application. Many of you should be fairly familiar with his work as we have featured much of here on Aspin. He has theme out the Gmail app, Google+ app and various other free apps that we all use everyday. One of the trickier situation is themeing a paid app. It is not only morally wrong, but essentially piracy. You can theme out any app that you have bought all on your own if you wish but distributing that app then costs the developer money. None of us want to do that. They teamed up with Tapatalk and themed out their application in a variety of color schemes and the company graciously has uploaded them into the market for your purchasing pleasure. This a really amazing achievement, not just for the boys, but also for Quoord. Getting their app and name attached to a very popular themer from the community is great for both parties.
I was able to locate 6 different color themes available in the market currently; Green, Cyan, Red, Pink, Purple and Blue. All are themed to highest of standards and offer some great features with in. In the apps settings you can choose to invert the app, black with white writing, or even switch on the transparent option. Having the options build in make it easier than ever to change the look with out uninstalling one to reinstall another. To top it off, each app is named with the color you have downloaded, giving you the ability to download them all and be able to use them independently.

If you are big Tapatalk user and are looking for an awesome way to spruce up the look of your app, we highly recommend snagging one or all of the themed version when you have a chance. Since there are so many to choose from, we are going to skip the QR code and provide you with a link that will display all your options.

As soon as it was here, it was gone.
Google’s Native Gmail App launched November 2nd and faced a litany of complaints due to a bug preventing push notifications from working properly. Google promptly pulled the App one short hour after its release. Well, the problem is all fixed, and Google released version 1.0.2 of the Gmail app today for download in the App Store.
In addition to fixing the problems that prompted the app’s quick removal a week ago Google improved the handling of HTML images in messages. The images are now sized to fit the screen

Gmail app for iPad and iPhone goes live
A rumor was quickly confirmed on Wednesday after Google posted an iOS-native Gmail app (free, App Store). The title is universal for both the iPhone and iPad and is intended to give a level of speed that isn’t normally available through iOS itself: new messages are flagged in real-time through push notifications without having to use Exchange. It also brings expected specific features such as Priority Inbox, labeling, starring, and spam flags….

Yesterday we posted up a preview of some of the amazing work the @B_boytm has done to offer us a themed out version of GMail. So many options to choose from I didn’t even know where to start. Since he seems to be the primary modder of our beloved Google apps, I thought we should continue the trend and give you a chance to pick up some more of his work.
Other than themeing out the GMail app for your enjoyment, he also keeps the latest Android market updates slightly tweaked to give your device the overall look that you desire. The last update to the market was version 3.1.5 and brought in some new features. Most notably was the +1 button to apps in the market. He currently has 2 versions available for the latest update. A dark market and a clear market. One thing that I have always liked about B-Boy is the extra leg work he does to ensure everyone has an option to get his themed apps installed. He offers the signed apk and an update zip file of each.
Both of the mods look pretty sweet and offer you a unique look that many others won’t have. He also has a multitude of colors available, but they are for the 3.1.3 version of the market. Which is still very functional. If you choose one of the colored options be sure to have Titanium Backup installed so you can freeze the MarketUpdater app. that will prevent your device from updating to the newer market and prevent you from losing the themed version. Just remember the 3.1.3 market doesn’t have the +1 button available.
There are some install instructions available on B-boys thread that you will want to read through prior to installing anything to your device. Be sure to make a backup before you flash or install anything so if you have any issues you can always revert back with out doing a full wipe.
Head on over to B-boys Rootzwiki thread to get the files needed to make this mod happen.

It has been a while since I checked in on some of our themers. I usually check on what they have done shortly after an update to the apps that we all have and love. One of the more recent apps to update in the last couple weeks was GMail. Staying true to his dedication, B-Boy, has made all of his modifications available for the latest update, 2.3.5.2.
The list of choices is absolutely amazing. We have to hand it to the guy for keeping up with all the choices and the updates. Take a look at the gallery below to get a look at just a few of the option he has provided us with.

Full downloads and all the installation instructions you will need can be found on B-Boys Rootzwiki thread. I hope you find one that suites your theme and preference.

We have posted various themed out and modified version of various applications to help keep a refreshing look on your device. Thanks to a lot of hard work by so many devs, the options don’t ever stop. After the last GMail update that was rolled out, B-boy and ecsnead69 got to work and gave us a very nice blacked out version that I have been using ever since. I personally love the blacked out apps. I also really like transparent versions. The 2 guys from RootzWiki have added that option to their list of currently available modifications.
To help make this MOD as simple as possible, they have offered both a .zip file for flashing through CWM and a signed .apk for installing. The flash-able version is the simplest means of installing the themed out version. If you choose to go with the .apk version you will want to uninstall the current the GMail application first. You can do that by either long pressing the app and dragging it to the trash can to uninstall if using a secondary launcher application, or you can go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications then find and uninstall it that way.
No matter how you approach it, if you love transparent apps and showing off to your friends what you have that they don’t, pop on over to their Rootzwiki thread and install it. Be sure to read their explanation of things so you know what you are getting yourself into.
