NYT Report Claims iPad 3 Screen is Truly Amazing

Friday, February 10th, 2012

The New York Times published their own report on Apple’s rumored iPad 3 announcement next month with a simple claim from “an Apple employee.”

The iPad 3 screen is “truly amazing.”

While the iPad being tested inside Cupertino is “essentially the same size and shape as the iPad 2,” the improved screen and faster processor will apparently be the selling points. The New York Times did not identify their source because “Apple is not fond of leaks.” Understatement of the year.

The improved-innards strategy appears

Mid-range HTC Primo info gets leaked, 1GHz dual-core with Ice Cream Sandwich on Board

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

As the dust settles from CES 2012, many start preparations for the next big event. I am sure you have all already started to hear about Mobile World Congress coming up in February. With the leaked information running around the internet, it is shaping up to be a great event indeed. One of the more recent leaks that we found floating around is about a new mid-ranged device that HTC should unveiling in Spain. Now we are a bit late to get this out, but we thought it should still make its way to the site.

Going against the more highly anticipated quad-core devices that are rumored to be announced, the Primo will be aimed at a more general audience of users. The device is currently dubbed as the HTC Primo. It is said to be housing a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP rear camera and Beats Audio integration. The Primo will come out of the box with Ice Cream Sandwich ready to roll. If priced right this could be a hot little device for those on a budget or even to give to the teen in your life.

There are still a few discrepancies in what Sense UI will be overlaid on it. Stuff.tv is saying it will have Sense 4.0 on top, but others are more confident in a Sense 3.6 UI that was part of the most recent ICS leak for the Sensation. We haven’t personally played around with any of the Sense ICS leaks yet. I wonder how much of a hindrance it is to the whole ICS experience. Anyone out there have any experience with Sense over ICS? We would love to hear your thoughts on the continued need for manufacturers to specialize their devices.

Embarrassing Apple Retail Store Training Video Leaks

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Retail training videos are usually terrible, and embarrassing for everyone involved. Apple retail stores are no exception.

I’m sure those involved in the video above prayed every night after filming this the video would be buried beneath the backyard wrestling and makeup tutorial videos of the Internets. Alas, it was not meant to be.

MacRumors discovered the video and brought it back to life. The video lays out the APPLE retail strategy

“Google TV now with Android 3.1 and Android Market,” or so says the new Packaging for the Revue

Friday, October 28th, 2011

An update to Google TV has been a long coming process. Many people gave up on the software update to Honeycomb long ago until leaks started to appear. Then the Logitech Revues took a price cut all the way down to a $100 bucks. From their we heard some official words come from Donagh O’Malley, Global Head of Content for Google TV, stating the update was about 3 weeks away. We also know that he has a keynoted scheduled for Streaming media west titled ‘Google TV Demo: The New World of Smart TVs.’ I think it is pretty safe to assume that we are very close to an official update finally.

To top it all off, there is now a new packaging being seen for the Logitech Review. I guess you can’t really call it new packaging when it is just a new sticker on the box. Good way to cut costs though. Don’t rush out and grab one if you see the sticker though. Some shipments went out a little prematurely so the box may have a nifty sticker but the software inside is unit is still old school.

Jobs Biography Hints at Possibility of an Apple HDTV

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Steve Job’s biography is nearly in the hands of the public and as it release date nears the number of leaks regarding its content continue to rise. One the more interesting leaks—from a product standpoint—is an excerpt that strongly hints at the possibility of an Apple HDTV being released or at lest in development.

While many, including myself, have been extremely dismissive about Apple entering the HDTV marketplace (the margins are razor thin) the following excerpt uncovered by the Washington post goes against all the Apple intuition many of us have accumulated over the years. <br

[MIUI Themes] Starcraft II and Frois-02 add a futuristic look to your MIUI

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

With all the craziness surrounding the Nexus Prime and the Ice Cream Sandwich leaks and apps, we can’t forget to share some theme love too. Lets face it, none of us are going to get our hands on much of the new stuff for a while still. Keep your eyes peeled though, I am certain that many devs are hard at working putting together some ICS looking love. Until then though, check out the two themes I found today.

The first one is called Starcraft II. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what it is based on. I am not a huge fan of that lock screen, but it does tie the theme together. Good thing we can change it if we want to. The icons look really good though.

Download – Starcraft 2 MIUI Theme

The second theme that I located is called Frois-02. Again, not really a fan of the included lockscreen, but the wallpaper looks sick. The small and subtle change to the status bar also looks attractive. What really stood out in this theme though were the icons. The tilted 3D look reallt makes it pop out at you. Beats the heck out of boring ole flat 2D icons doesn’t it?

  Download – Frois-02 MIUI Theme

After you download them, drop them into your MIUI/Themes folder on your memory card. You should see them listed in the Theme application and available to apply.

We hope you guys enjoy them.

Nexus mock up looks awesome but based only on a Guess

Friday, October 7th, 2011

There is nothing wrong with people trying to create a mock-up of what a new device will actually look like. They are fun and sometime even pretty darn close. There are certainly some issues with the renders of the Nexus Prime that were created, but the creator sure as heck did a pretty good job of making it look beautiful.

You can see they accidentally put the image on the left upside down. Not that it is a big deal. All the blue and the potential look of the Ice Cream Sandwich main home screen sure looks nice though. Keep in mind, it is all based on rumors and little leaks from around the web. Kinda makes me want to rearrange my home screen now.

Apple leaks: iPhone 5 ‘weeks away,’ looks like Case-Mate
Case-Mate’s iPhone 5 case posting was corroborated by sources from within Apple on Thursday. Stating that the launch was just “weeks away,” staffers gave descriptions of the new iPhone’s look that reportedly lined up with the larger, tapered, aluminum look. An engineer told the NYT that the design would be “fairly different” than the iPhone 4, inside and out….

DROID Incredible Gingerbread update hitting devices, Manual update available for the inpatient Ones

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

The rumors have been flying around about the DROID Incredible getting the official Gingerbread update. There have been a few leaks that have been running around and a few people even stating that they got the update already. The good news on the wire is that the update is finally starting to appear on devices. The update bumps your device to Android 2.3.4 and offers the following -

  • MMS messages will now send correctly
  • Properly save audio files from MMS messages
  • Successfully play audio from MMS messages
  • Internet connection via Bluetooth now enabled
  • VZ Navigator now operates on Wifi
  • Change songs in the music widget by tapping the forward button
  • Camera now functions with an SD card inserted

Not a bad looking list. I see they solved the SMS issue, hopefully. They also added tethering via Bluetooth to the list of updated features. Be sure to pay that extra money or they get you for using it. You can sit ideally by staring at your device waiting for that ‘update is available’ screen to pop up, or you can head over to our friends at AndroidCentral. They have a magnificent walk through of how to install the update manually.

iPhone 4s Frame Pictures Leak, Reveal Different Antennas

Friday, August 26th, 2011

Leaks for the iPhone 4s, or new cheaper iPhone 4, or the iPhone 5 or whatever it is, are mounting up fast. MacRumors stumbled on another leak of what they believe to be “iPhone 4s” bodies.

The bodies are nearly identical to the iPhone 4 bodies, but both sides of the frame have slightly different antennas than the iPhone 4. The only breaks in the frame appear to be at the bottom of the phone. The Verizon iPhone 4 breaks occur at the top, and the AT&T iPhone 4 breaks occur at the lower and upper left. The other major difference appears to be the frame’s lack of a

Galaxy S 4G Gets Official Gingerbread With Leak

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Krylon360 over at RootzWiki.com found the Official Gingerbread build for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G by T-Mobile. The past few weeks, we have been seeing a few leaks for the device, but nothing that has come over Samsung Kies Mini.

Here is what Krylon360 has to say about it.

“I bring to you, The Official GB Leak for the Galaxy S 4G. I took this from the Samsung Servers, and had Chainfire decrypt it.
I say this is official due to the fact that there are a few users on XDA who started to receive it over Kies Mini, but then it was taken down, just as fast as it went up.

This is not a deodex’d or rooted version.
Whitehawkx is currently deodexing it, and drhonk is working the kernel for root/cwm flavoring.”

We are anxious to see what devs do with this build.
Since both Krylon360 and drhonk released ClockWorkMod for the Galaxy S 4G, Development has really picked up, and both Krylon360 and drhonk are focused on bringing CM7 to the device.

You will need ODIN to flash.

Instuctions:
Unzip
Rename the .tar.md5 to just .tar
Boot your phone to Download Mode
Load the .tar into the PDA Slot and flash.

Verizon Inventory List Outs Droid 3 Accessories

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Upon waiting for the release of a new device it’s common to wonder what accessories will be available, and thanks to one of Droid Life’s sources we now know what those will be for this handset. Over the past few weeks we’ve seen and heard quite a bit about the new Motorola Droid 3. While Verizon has yet to out the device, leaks, like the one above , do the talking for them.

According to the screenshot above we’ll be seeing an inductive battery door, window mount, multimedia dock as well as an extended battery. Prices and availability weren’t listed for these items however we suspect they’ll be announced and available once Verizon opens the clam shell on the Droid 3. Given all the recent leaked pictures and tidbits of information one would guess that a launch is just around the corner.
