7. Action Snap

This one is fun and different. The features it offers definitely sets it apart from many other photo apps and their attempts to make most photos look and feel retro. You can control the shutter interval and start taking photos, and the app puts these images together. The whole thing is accessed with a simple interface.

Unlike the other photo apps, this one is made just to be funny. It uses facial recognitions to find folks to make fat in photos. Using a front shot, it makes any face look very obese with a few slight adjustments.

The days of buying overpriced, cliché postcards from airports and lobby stores are over. Now you can create custom postcards in moments with the Touchnote Postcards iPhone app from Touchnote LTD.

During our iPhone app review we found out it’s easy to make and share memories with this sophisticated app. If you travel, love to write letters or are looking for a new way to send special messages from the convenience of your iPhone, you’ll want to listen up.

Concept: ****½ (4.5/5)

The idea behind the Touchnote Postcards iPhone app is simple. Just snap a photo with your iPhone or choose one from your camera roll, Facebook, Instagram, Diptic or other photo apps. The multi-app integration is amazing.

Personalize the photo with custom text. Add your message and an address (which can be pulled directly from your contact list if you so desire) and you’re done.

Postcards print locally in the UK and the US, so delivery will run approximately 4 days in these areas. The app tries to keep pricing standard. For US users each postcard costs $1.49. For UK users it’s £1.49. Other European countries can expect to pay €1.49 and so on.

Obviously that means users in other countries are welcome to get in on the fun, but delivery times will vary.

There’s also a basic photo editing functionality in the Touchnote Postcards iPhone app. So you can crop, rotate and zoom in and out of photos to get the perfect image for your postcard.

Touchnote Postcards is the perfect iPhone app for travelers. You can create a postcard in real time to capture special moments to share with friends and family. You can even create cards without using any data then send them later to avoid roaming charges.

Layout & Design: ****½ (4.5/5)

Touchnote Postcards

A top notch UI compliments the Touchnote Postcards app’s savvy concept to a tee. Three main tabs rule the app.

In the Postbox tab you can keep track of any current card orders you have. It will tell you when they print and give you additional tracking data.

The Account tab lets you keep track of your in-app credits, access a useful help file and contact information.

The Create Card tab is where the magic happens. Tap to add a photo. Tap to type. It’s that easy.

There aren’t any fluffy graphics or distracting details. Creating and managing post cards is super simple, which is exactly as it should be.

Value: ****½ (4.5/5)

The Touchnote Postcards iPhone app is free to download. As we mentioned earlier, each postcard you send will cost $1.49 (or the local equivalent). That includes postage. You can also save in advance by purchasing postcard credit packs. If you you’ll be sending several cards, this is definitely the way to go.

This app also has a money back guarantee if your card is damaged or lost. That’s some serious custom service.

While it is similar to other postcard apps such as Postagram, photo editing options and multi-app interfacing definitely give Touchnote Postcards an edge over the competition.

Upcoming: Add Basic Photo Editing Tools in Photos.app with PhotoEdit

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Although it seems to be more of a joke these days, the saying “There’s an app for that” has proved to truly be a reality. Whether you search the App Store or Cydia, you will find a tweak or application that does just about anything. These days, companies such as Apple have even played on this notion by pushing the comprehensive library that it has.

But where a struggle can occur is when looking for an application that is simple and inexpensive, especially with an expansion library to choose from. When it comes down to photo editing applications specifically, you can be in a bind if you’re just

5 must have FREE photo apps for on the fly editing and Fun

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

One thing that we here at Androidspin try to do is give you a decent mix of news along side a great mix of things you can use now. As much fun as the news can be to read, I get bored easily when it isn’t something I can get my hands on right this second. This is why you may find more useful apps, mods and themes more readily available through us then any other site. You seem to enjoy that just as much as we enjoy providing it. In my search for something useful to bring to the table I came across an article on webdesignfan.com. The author goes through a total of 20 photo editing applications that are available for the photographer buried inside of you. With all the latest and greatest devices packing high-quality cameras you shouldn’t be forced to upload those photos to a PC to make adjustments. I went through the list and chose 5 of the 20 to share with you here that I found to be fun and/or functional. At the end of the article you will be able to find the source link and check out some others if you would like.

Rather than do an extremely long ditty about each application, I will keep it short and sweet with a little bit about each one and a link to the market so you can read up on it more. I will also include if the app is free or what the price tag is. Scroll on through the list and take a look at some of the photo apps that you may have been looking for.

PhotoShake!

With PhotoShake you can combine up to 6 images and combine them all into a collage. 6 photo theme support (MultiPhoto, SinglePhoto, InstantPhoto, GridPhoto, WidePhoto, WallPaper). There are built-in editing functions to add the final touches to your finished masterpiece. To mix things up a bit you can go under settings and enable the ‘shake’ feature, when you shake the device the application will pull random photos into the collage for you. Giving you a unique blend of the pictures you have taken. The app is free for you to use an bolsters plenty of other features that may interest you. They also have a paid version for $1.72 that offers more themes and layouts to utilize.

Funny Camera

There has always been a special place in everyone’s heart when you go to those giant wooden cut outs at the fair. The ones with the macho man standing on the beach or the bikini babe, you poke your head through and snag a photo every time. Imagine having that ability when ever your heart desires and adding your friends faces to real people’s bodies. That is what this app can offer. There isn’t much in the way of a description on how many custom frames they have available, but since the app is free it should at least warrant a quick download. Even if for only the afternoon or night out on the town.

PicsIn Magic Effects

This application is more along the lines of editing and adding effects to your photos. There are a lot of various effects that you choose from including Stenciler, Cartoonizer, Sketcher, Orton, Lomo, Vintage, Cross Process, HDR, Fattal, Pencil, Holgaart and more! This is a great standalone app, but also works well in conjunction with Picsin: Photo, Draw and Share app. This application is also a free on the market.

Magic Canvas

This app will allow you to take photos from your gallery or take a photo through the app. Once you have decided what image you have chosen you can start editing it to your heart’s content.  You can choose from scalable brush sizes, apply effects to images, invert the selection, compare mode, change contrast of original image, masked and colored view options, send pictures to friends, invert the selection, and many other features. This is a really cool app that anyone looking to alter images and make them more interesting should get. This application is available via the market for free.

Color Touch Effects

This is another really fun applications that allows you to apply many varying effects to images from your gallery or from the camera. You can change an image from color to black and white, leave portions of the image in color, Recolor image with any color of your choice, Configure brush size,  Undo your changes, alter the images brightness and many more. It is a fun way to add some personal flare to the photos you take.

I hope you find some enjoyment with these photo apps. For even more to choose from, feel free to direct your browser over the full 20 that
Yanuar posted up on webdesignfan.

Accessories: new styluses for iPad, tablets, smartphones
Though Apple CEO Steve Jobs famously said, “if you see a stylus, they blew it” referring to tablets, there are occasions and certain types of software that benefit from stylus use, particularly handwriting, photo-editing and drawing apps. As users continue to find specific uses for styluses on iOS products (and particularly competitor touchscreen devices), a small but significant market has sprung up to meet demand. Four of the latest styluses to hit the market are highlighted below….

Photoshop is easily one of the best photo editing and manipulating softer that is available. There really isn’t anything you can’t do to a photo with it. What about the rest of the world though that wants to do a little editing but can’t afford to shell out the cash required to Adobe? One of the many options available comes from Aviary.com. They provide a simple and easy to use image editor that is web based.

It is quite impressive. I wouldn’t dare take credit for the masterpieces you see above, but it does give you an idea of how powerful this web app can be. Hairpaint Video iPhone App Review

Hairpaint1 200x300 Hairpaint: The iPhone App Cure for Your Hair Loss

Reviewed by Luke Patrick

Ah, frivolous photo-editing how we love thee! If you just can’t get enough PhotoBooth iPhone app style fun, it’s about time you gave Hairpaint by 3 a.m. Coffee Studio a spin. My iPhone app review found that this iPhone app isn’t without its faults, but what it offers is an endless amount of cheap laughs at your (or your friends’) expense.

Form and Function ****~ (4/5)

Hairpaint is a classic offering in the genre of silly-photo-editing apps. The iPhone app allows you to load a picture of yourself, your friends, your neighbors, your dogs etc. and paint them silly with various forms of hair. The app lets you pick the style of hair, as well as the color, and then uses your finger as a brush to lather on the locks. Hairpaint features everything from a punk-rock mohawk to body hair, giving you total freedom to humiliate your friends—or correct some early onset male-pattern baldness.

Hairpaint performs its duties admirably, with very few exceptions. When setting up a photo for editing, the rotation and scaling controls were a tad too picky, making it difficult to line up a photo properly. Similarly, not being able to pinch-and-zoom a photo once its set makes painting precise amounts of facial hair nearly impossible. The same issue is raised with erasing any hairy mistakes. However, with the ability to save a photo directly to your iPhone, email it to a friend or post it to Facebook, your masterpiece will certainly not be forgotten.

Design and Looks ***~~ (3/5)

Hairpaint2 200x300 Hairpaint: The iPhone App Cure for Your Hair Loss

Hairpaint for iPhone

I’m sure you’ve all been dying to know, so I’ll go ahead and address the elephant in the room: How good does the painted hair actually look? And the answer is—well, it depends.

With a little tweaking I could make some pretty convincing stubble, but there were hair stylings I found nearly impossible to authenticate. The curly style was particularly gnarly, especially when unnatural colors were involved. However, this is not a serious photo touchup studio for the iPhone: Authentic looking mohawks are certainly not the focus, but rather just having a good time. That being said, the developers have created a brilliant set of menus for the app, and navigating the various does could not be easier. Likewise, painting on the hair isn’t always precise, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t so simple your monkey could do it. Blindfolded.

Overall Value ***** (5/5)

Hairpaint is free in the AppStore—if that’s not a green light, I don’t know what is. Whether you intend to try one photo or spend hours painting on hair, the app is certainly worth a try and will hardly break the bank. Hairpaint is fun and frivolous, and comes with the perfect price to match. Now load up that embarrassing photo and do what every responsible Appster should—add a mohawk!
